Ms. Meena Gupta, IAS

Ms. Meena Gupta joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1971 and has worked in various senior positions in the Government of Orissa and the Government of India since then. She has worked for significant periods of time in the sectors of health, labour, tribal affairs and environment & forests. As Secretary, Health in the Government of Orissa, she introduced several pioneering reforms. In the Ministry of Labour in Government of India she was associated with the Child Labour (Protection & Regulation) Act, and the National Child Labour Projects. She also worked in the ILO Office, New Delhi for four years on a child labour project which extended support to the Government of India’s effort. She also worked as Secretary in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and now, Secretary in the Ministry of Environment & Forests. She has been member of LEPRA Society since 2003. |

Lt. Gen. V D Tiwari retired in 2003 as Director and Commandant of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. He has to his credit several research projects in the fields of Dermatology, Venerology and Leprosy. He is a co-recipient of “Maj Gen. Amir Chand Trust Award” for the year 1984 for outstanding work. He is Chairman of Reaserch Advisory Committee of BPHRC. He is an active member of the Management Committee since 1998. |

Sir Ronald has extensive strategic and change management experience gained in a wide range of settings in the public sector at local, regional and national level.
Sir Ronald brings to LEPRA’s Board of Trustees a wealth of experience in overseeing change and development of large and complex organisations. It is hoped that his expertise will help to develop the organisation’s operations across the UK and in India where LEPRA works to fight diseases of poverty by improving access to health for marginalised communities. |

Ms Sarah Nancollas, degree in civil engineering, worked in industry for ten years as a logistics manager for BP before taking leave to work in the Ministry of Health in Ghana. Within six weeks she realised that she would not return to the corporate world! After five years running projects for Save the Children, she founded international transport NGO Transaid. After six years there, she spent six years as Chief Executive of Canon Collins Trust. |

Mr. Ajit Mahapatra is currently the Chairman and Managing Director, Kalinga Group of Companies, Orissa. With engineering education specialized in machine designing; Mr. Mahapatra received a National Award for outstanding contribution to indigenous technology development. He is Chairman of TARGETs consortium organisations of TB. Mr. Mahapatra joined LEPRA Society’s Management Committee in 2004. |

Dr Dinkar D Palande

Dr Dinkar D Palande, MS from the Grant Medical College in Mumbai in 1962. A surgeon by profession, Dr. Dinkar D Palande an expert in nerve and hand surgery, worked as the Chief Surgeon at the Sacred Heart Leprosy Centre in Tamil Nadu for 20 years. He is now the surgical Consultant to LEPRA and LEPRA Society.He has authored several articles on Nerve and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Dinkar D Palande, has been awarded the prestigious Manohar Diwan Memorial Award.
This award truly reflects Dr. Palande's selfless dedication to medical and social service of those whose leprosy has robbed them of their self-respect and their rightful place in society. |

Dr Vijaykumar Pannikar started his career in SRC, Karigiri.
He held the highest position as team leader of the World Health Organisation's Global Leprosy Programme from March 2005 to November 2009, Dr Pannikar worked with WHO on leprosy-related programmes for 20 years.
In 1979-1980, when WHO was looking for an area for the new multi-drug therapy Dapsone, Rifampicin, Clofazamine trials for leprosy. WHO was planning a 10-year trial and my director at the Karigiri hospital said WHO wanted a team to head the trial and I took it up.

Dr. Vijay Rukmini Rao, is a Ph D in Psychology. Presently the Director for Deccan Development Society. She was more instrumental in setting up of WASSAN a network of NGOs to take up advocacy related to Watershed Development in Andhra Pradesh; setting up of livelihood networks for women in Khammam and Nalgonda districts; creating people controlled Joint Forest Mangement Programmes within the World Bank Aided Project in Andhra Pradesh. This is done through the Centre for World Solidarity an intermediary NGO supporting grassroots groups. |

Prof. Radhamohan is a great Academician and an eminent Social Worker. He is very much concerned of the environment and has been conferred with many State Level Awards. He has worked with the government system for long years including his services in teaching at SCS College, Puri (one of the most renowned colleges of Odisha). He also owns membership in different committees both at state and National Level. His contribution towards the Watershed Management in the state of Odisha is highly noteworthy. Apart from this, he had also hold the state level constitutional position, the State Information Commissioner, Odisha for a term of 5 years. |

MBBS, MD (Community Medicine) is an alumnus of the Christian Medical College, Vellore. She has a rich experience of community health practice in some of the most challenging states of India, namely Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, including a productive stint as a senior program manager in UNICEF. She is keenly interested in improving maternal and child health in rural areas, and in training village level and paramedical workers, traditional birth attendants towards this end. |

Dr P. V. Ranganadha Rao, Chief Executive of LEPRA India, has been appointed as International Medical Director for LEPRA Health in Action. His role will be to ensure the continued development of quality of care throughout the organisation.
Dr Rao joined LEPRA India in 1989 as medical officer at LEPRA Hyderabad leprosy project (HYLEP). And he has been instrumental in establishing leprosy projects of LEPRA India. In 2002 he was appointed as Chief Executive of LEPRA India. Before joining LEPRA Dr. Rao worked for two years as a medical officer in a Leprosy hospital supported by the German Leprosy Relief Association, and for 5 years in the Indian Army Medical Corps.

Future Plan
- Develop training manuals based on NACO, WHO, UNIADS guidelines for providing training to trainers.
- Global Information System (GIS) mapping and web-based monitoring of infected and affected people.
- Supervise training on site, and develop checklists for supervision.
- To scale up centers at Government hospitals.
