Rayagada Leprosy Eradication Project (RAYLEP)
 
 
Rayagada district came into existence on 2 nd October 1992 being carved out of the erstwhile Koraput district. The district is divided into two subdivisions with 11 blocks, 4 Tehsils, 171 Gram Panchayats, 2667 villages 1,16,534 households consists of 1,62,478 families and has a total population of 8, 23,019. Of the total population 95 per cent lives in the rural belt with five different tribal languages. About 72 per cent of the families live below the poverty line. There are 5 Community Health Centres, 6 Primary Health Centres, 211 sub-centres, 1 Dist. Hospital, 34 New PHCs, 12 Mobile Health Units, 1 ESI Hospital, JKPur, 1 Railway Hospital in Rayagada, 2350 DDCs, 805 FTDs, 240 Health Workers (M/F), 28 LHVs .
