| Prevention of Parent to Child Transmission Plus Project ( PPTCT+) |
LEPRA Society & Network of People Positive with the support of APSACS under GFATM (Global Fund for AIDS/TB/Malaria) round II objectives is implementing the PPTCT out reach programme. HIV infection can be passed to an unborn child during pregnancy or during breastfeeding, so it is essential that all pregnant women be tested for HIV. Proper treatment can reduce the possibility of the child becoming infected if mother is found to be HIV positive. To strengthen these services there is an urgent need of programme to coordinate and bridge the gap between PPTCT and Target community. So, Prevention of Parent to Child Transmission Plus project was launched with the aim to enhance accessibility to HIV services among general population & promote follow up services for the positive women, to improve the quality of life of the positive mothers and positive children and affected families through various services. Presently PPTCT + is covering 107 slums in Hyderabad and 14 Mandals- 272 villages in Nuzivid. |
