The Regional Office, based at Bhubaneswar started functioning from 2001, maintains overall responsibility for the projects and its activities in the districts marked in the Map. It takes the lead in defining programme priorities and activities, monitoring programme delivery, and providing support and coordination to its Project Officers..
Primarily assisting the National Leprosy Elimination Programme, the Regional Office has contributed in controlling leprosy to a large extent and also facilitated the integration process through the Technical teams. The Regional office has provided holistic care and support to the leprosy affected through prevention of disability, reconstructive surgery and socio-economic rehabilitation.
In recent years, the Regional office has expanded its geographical and demographic coverage and in other diseases such as Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Blindness, Malaria and Lymphatic Filariasis.
