Mayurbhanj Integrated Community Health Project is the first ever community health programme of LEPRA societies operations in Orissa. The approach for this programme is community organization to generate demand for services and empowerment to community based organizations to advocate for their health rights. Further the project emphasis on community awareness and promoting health seeking behavior among rural, tribal people living in remote and inaccessible area. The project is to cover whole of the district i.e. 26 blocks in five years time in phased manner. The project is being implemented through local NGO partners and CBOs. The project has also implemented in coordination and collaboration with government health department in the district. The project has two consulting organizations ie Health link worldwide of UK and Orissa voluntary health organization, Bhubaneswar who provide necessary technical support and capacity building of the stakeholders in different aspects like participatory communication, community based advocacy, health resource centre, community based monitoring etc. |
