The project in Madhya Pradesh started in 2002 as a Technical Support Team for leprosy, working in seven districts of Indore division which were previously high PR districts. This project ended in March 2007 and gave way to the Technical Resource Unit (TRU). The TRU now is the State Coordinator for NLEP and operations have now expanded to the whole state.

As State Coordinator for leprosy services, the activities are based on the needs of the state and the areas (identified area /pockets/districts) needing extra support for ensuring quality leprosy services. Care has also been taken to avoid duplication of any activities carried out by the state.

Apart from leprosy, LEPRA Society is also supporting the RNTCP prgramme of the government and working on HIV/AIDS and malaria.

The project has also started working in the direction of conceptualising a combined/jointly operated IEC action plan for the state for diseases like leporsy, HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria.
