| FPP & AVAHAN projects of HYLEP |
HYLEP is also working in conjunction with India HIV / AIDS Alliance in Andhra Pradesh under the aegis of which, two projects were started in July 2004 with the objective of reducing Transmission of HIV /AIDS by treating Sexually transmitted infections, creating awareness in Safe sex practices and Behavior Change Communication in sex workers. The projects are running with the help of key population (sex workers) who are employed as outreach workers. The clinics are known as Mythri (friendly) clinics along with a drop in centre for these clients.

We are also doing Rehabilitation of leprosy cured persons which is another important activity because restoring their dignity giving them hope is as important as restoring their health and economy. Integrating leprosy affected people in the main stream of life by giving economic assistance, here are a few case studies.

| World TB Day
Every year March 24th is observed as World Anti TB Day. Prior to this day in the month of March for two weeks various Anti TB activities are organized like, Awareness campaigns, Trainings in the community, Sensitization of Private Medical Practitioners, reorientation for DOTS Providers and competitions in schools Advocacy meetings in slums. We also conduct Video van shows, Local Talent shows about symptoms, treatment and Importance of DOTS in Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program. On 24th of March rallies and meetings are organized where eminent personalities are invited to address the gathering. On this occasion the best Patient, DOTS Provider and best PMP are honored.

Anti Leprosy Week Celebrations

Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary, Martyr’s day 30th January is observed as Anti Leprosy Day. On this day a rally is taken which culminates in a meeting where the facts about leprosy are discussed, eminent personalities are invited to grace this occasion.
This is followed by weeklong programs in Schools and slums ending on 5th of February with a valedictory function. In this meeting awards are given to winners of various competitions like essay writing, elocution in leprosy held during the week.
