Blue Peter Public Health & Research Centre is built on acreage of 1 ½ acres and has a built up area of about 12000 sq. ft. It houses 3 research wings – Clinical & Epidemiology, Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology & Biochemistry divisions and supported by Administration wing.

 

Clinical & Epidemiology Division

Microbiology Division
 

• Mycobacterial Culture & Sensitivity lab with BSL-2 (shortly upgrading in to BSL-3)
• General Microbiology lab
• TB Molecular Biology
• Repository of > 600 clinical M.tb isolates, well characterized for clinical and laboratory features

The laboratory is accredited to Central TB division, GOI and recognized as a state level referral center for MDR TB diagnosis. Currently, the lab offers diagnostic services to patients across the TB clinics of LEPRA India and four districts of Andhra Pradesh (in collaboration with Govt. of AP). There are plans for future scale up to other districts.

 

Immunology, Molecular Biology Division

 

• Immunology – T cell & Antibody based assays
• Molecular biology – DNA & RNA techniques
• Cell culture lab - Stimulation assays
• Flow Cytometry – Cell markers including CD4
• Supported with walk in cold room facility
• Bio bank of tissues, blood spots for DNA, sera samples for nerve damage studies
