Accreditation is a system by which Alliance members (Linking Organisations, Country Offices and the Secretariat) are assessed against defined standards, and by which organisations seeking to join the Alliance are assessed. This process was initiated in the year 2007 by International HIV/AIDS Alliance and till now, four existing linking organisations and five new LO s completed accreditation. For 2009, the assessment process was initiated and the candidates from India are SASO, AAA and Delhi Alliance Office.

Accreditation - what it means for organisation

1. Public indication of organisational achievement and show credibility to potential donors

2. Process allows organisation to:
   - review its systems and processes to meet international good practices
   - discuss different methods of working with peer organisations

3. Weaknesses identified are fed into the organisation’s Integrated Development Plan to further strengthen its systems and programmes
